The Corporate Model
I just thought I'd get this out of my system too.
Corporations are retarded; and here's why!
A corporation allows the creation of a separate legal entity that is help liable for the actions of a group of people running a corporation. The corporation is by law considered a legal entity like that of a human being; it can be sued, and it can be help responsible for things a company does. Previously corporations were created by the government to get large jobs done, such as building a railroad, but corporate lawyers saw their way to getting a corporation all the rights of a person, as well as deregulating the creation of corporations. Now, a corporation acts as a shield for the members within a corporation, so they cannot be directly held liable for something the "corporation does". I.e., a corporation goes bankrupt; the personal belongings of the people involved in the corporation cannot be liquidated because the corporation is a separate legal entity, now you may be thinking "Gee, that isn't too bad, that just means people can't lose their homes if their company goes under." and essentially, you’re right. That isn't my problem with corporations though, and now that you know what I'm talking about; I'll tell you what my problem with corporations is.
When you create a separate inanimate entity that has all the rights of a person, but is essentially being controlled by a bunch of people, you create a puppet that acts out all the most utilitarian desires of that group of people, often regardless of the moral and financial consequences these actions have on other people. The corporation is, by law, required to do what is most profitable for its shareholders... BY LAW! So, this entity does everything it can to make money, even if it undertakes morally questionable endeavors to do so. This degree of separation means the actual driving force of this emotionless thing cannot be punished for it's actions. Imagine if you had a puppet, and every time you thought something utilitarian, the puppet just did it, and it was the puppet's fault. That is what a corporation is. If you dissolve a corporation, you are not directly punishing the will that drove the corporation. The only way to punish a corporation is to dissolve it, or fine it in one manner or another.
Here you are, my final, consolidated and focused reason corporations should have never been deregulated:
A corporation cannot go to jail, but it CAN be responsible for someone's death.
So next time someone says "What’s wrong with a corporation?" tell them what I've told you.
